Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.
Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

Job Title: Supervisor, Mental Health Detention Services
Job Summary: Provides clinical and administrative supervision to the mental health team at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office detention centers. In addition to providing supervision, this position functions as a practicing clinician and provides support and treatment to those incarcerated consumers who are experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness.
Schedule: 37.5 hour per week plus on-call rotation
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership to the team and oversee daily operations of mental health services at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).Assist in the collection of pertinent clinical data as required by the contract with the Metro Health Department, Davidson County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) and Wellpath.Conduct clinical assessments as needed and per program guidelines.Work with Director to determine staffing needs and ensure proper coverage at designated facility.Conduct one-on-one education, training, and coaching to individual team members and provide consistent feedback during monthly supervisions.Address individual performance issues promptly with consultation with Director.Build and maintain relationships with key players of the Criminal Justice System, Wellpath, DCSO, and the Mental Health Court.Provide rotating supervisor-on-call coverage.Conduct mental health in-service education for Wellpath, DCSO, and other personnel as needed.Demonstrate understanding of the relevant NCCHC/ACA standards for mental health care.Attend DCSO and Wellpath management meetings as directed by the Program Director.Assist with Wellpath CQI process, required monthly reporting of statistics, and associated performance improvement plans.Participate in DCSO Grievance process and provide follow up as needed.Work collaboratively with HR and Director to interview prospective candidates.Ensure team submits necessary credentialing and training requirements in a timely manner.Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS: License in Social Work; Counseling; Psychology.Master's degree (M.A., M.S.) or equivalent and valid TN license in Social Work, Psychology or other related discipline.Prior supervisory experience preferred.Valid Tennessee Driver's License.Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation.Personal Automobile Insurance.Cell Phone.CORE COMPETENCIES:

About MHCMHC was founded in Nashville, Tennessee, in response to the need for assertive community-based treatment for individuals who have required frequent inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Since 1993, MHC has been passionately helping adults with severe mental illness to live quality lives in the community with our state-of-the-art treatment and support. In 1999, MHC recognized the need to support the whole family and expanded services to include children and youth.
We established our non-profit agency by merging three community organizations: Urban Case Management of Meharry Community Health Center, Continuous Treatment Team of Council of Community Services, and Mobile Crisis Team of the Crisis Intervention Center.
This fusion resulted in an innovative, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary approach that addresses the specialized needs of individuals living with severe behavioral health conditions and challenges related to poverty. MHC remains the only organization in the state focused solely on this population.
