As a Supervisory Accountant, you will work under the general supervision of the Branch Chief, with full responsibility for the overall operations/activities and subordinate personnel of the assigned unit.

This position has job functions that must be executed within specific geographic locations.
The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee's home) within the specified geographic area.

Kansas City, MO Fort Worth, TX Washington DC Philadelphia, PA Denver, CO As a Supervisory Accountant, you will perform the following duties: Supervises a wide variety of work assignments which can be difficult in nature and may require highly specialized experience or broad policy interpretation.
Sets goals and objectives of the assigned program areas and oversees the standards of acceptable performance.
Performs an assigned range of supervisory duties which include, but are not limited to, approving and certifying leave; evaluating subordinate personnel; making decisions on work problems/situations encountered by subordinate personnel.
Provides leadership and advice on interpretation of governing policy within the unit's accounting and financial program areas.
Applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to assess and improve program effectiveness and/or complex work processes, projects and systems and makes definitive recommendations based on extensive analysis.
Findings and recommendations ensure that agency policy remains in conformance with ongoing regional and national initiatives.
Assists the Branch Chief, and subordinate personnel, in the accomplishment of short and long-range planning and the execution of actions pertaining to his/her assigned program areas, which can have far- reaching impact on the Branch or Division, regionally and nationally.
As a component of the Branch, the successful management of the program area plays a major role in the ability of the Branch and Division to provide effective and efficient support.
Reviews, prepares and/or approves technical reports and/or papers on important and complex accounting and financial management matters which influence not only the immediate office, but which can have widespread impact in the regional and/or national current and/or future programs.

Qualifications

The GS-13 salary range starts at $105,029.00 per year.
Locality will be determined based on duty location.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
Basic Requirements: You must have either A or B, or C:
Degree in accounting Degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law A combination of college level education and experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience performing analyses of a high-volume automated accounting system which included complex processing routines; analyzing and evaluating complex accounting problems to develop solutions; and communicating accounting solutions to management peers, customers and/or subordinates.
This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcript(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcements to verify qualifications.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to provide advice, guidance, findings, and recommendations concerning various types of accounting and financial matters to various levels of personnel.
Ability to independently and effectively develop sound accounting conclusions and technical judgments and to participate in decision-making sessions and meetings.
Knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, theories, and practices.
