The Supply Chain and Manufacturing Director is responsible for all manufacturing across the Lummus locations, overseeing the management of multiple plants and the creation of a culture of continuous improvement by driving lean solutions, cost reduction initiatives, implementing manufacturing best practices, and leading innovation.
Objectives: Executes strategy for all Lummus Manufacturing operations, including Manufacturing Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Production Planning, and Quality. Ensures that both Manufacturing and Engineering are working together to improve overall efficiency in the Lummus Ag Solutions Manufacturing facilities in Savannah Georgia and Lubbock Texas. This position will lead and coordinate the required internal resources to develop and execute the near and long-term site strategy to maximize manufacturing outcomes and proactively plan for changing conditions. The role has overall responsibility for Lummus Manufacturing – there are currently 2 manufacturing facilities one being in Savannah Georgia and the other in Lubbock Texas. This position is located in Savannah, Georgia.
Essential Functions: Take a disciplined approach to managing day-to-day operations with an emphasis on quantitative metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).Set and monitor the plants' operational targets and act on variances.Develop and maintain performance metrics for site manufacturing activities and communicate department progress to management and staff.Accountable for project deliverables, adherence to the cost center (OPEX) budget and development and management of capital expenditure for Manufacturing.Working with purchasing and supply chain teams, optimize use of resources in terms of availability and financial return.Set up policies in material usage, capacity planning, production methods and employee relations to enhance operation efficiency.Oversee implementation of quality programs and define and ensure development of continuous improvement initiatives.Participate as a key member of the Core Leadership Team by proactively engaging cross functionally to achieve site goals and priorities. Ensure that reporting staff understand the shared accountabilities for goals and priorities.Lead, develop, and mentor department management staff, emphasizing functional and cross-functional teamwork, planning, follow-up, and effective communication, and set strategy for staffing in partnership with HR and executive team.Ensure maximum compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Distribution Practices, OSHA, ISO, and other areas of mandatory regulatory oversight.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by those in this job. Master's Degree preferred.Minimum of 10+ years manufacturing, including 5+ years' experience in a multi-site plant leadership role.Hands-on experience determining capacity and scaling up to manage different types of manufacturing environments based on product and/or customer demand (e.g., high volume/low mix vs. low volume/high mix, building to inventory vs. building to order).Strong entrepreneurial and business acumen, with strong attention to detail and excellent organization and planning skills.Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate company growth goals and engage team in the transformation.Ability to initiate and lead change management. Must be able to influence others in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and matrixed environment.Willingness to travel as needed.Ability to work in a plant environment, and evenings and weekends may be required to meet business demand.
