This position requires frequent travel, adaptability to different surgical teams, and the ability to provide seamless support across diverse operating room settings. Key Responsibilities Surgical Preparation: Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by setting up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes, and solutions required for surgery. Ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout each procedure. Intraoperative Support: Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other necessary supplies. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to ensure efficient and safe operations. Instrument Handling: Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and post-surgery to ensure no items are left inside the patient. Maintain organization and accuracy with instrument inventory. Sterilization & Equipment Maintenance: Sterilize instruments and equipment after procedures and ensure their proper storage and upkeep. Perform basic equipment troubleshooting as needed. Patient Safety: Follow all safety protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent infection and maintain a sterile environment. Adhere to all guidelines regarding patient safety and operating room protocols. Documentation & Recordkeeping: Document and track instrument counts, procedures performed, and any unusual incidents. Ensure all paperwork is completed and filed according to facility policies. Adaptability & Travel: Travel between facilities and adapt quickly to each location's policies, equipment, and surgical teams. Accommodate varying schedules and maintain a flexible approach to shifting priorities. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training. Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with preference for experience in multiple surgical specialties and familiarity with different OR settings. Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Ability to work well under pressure and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work with new teams and adjust to different operating room environments. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move surgical equipment, and wear appropriate protective gear, including PPE and lead aprons.
