About the area Riverside County encompasses an area known as the Inland Empire. It also includes the greater Palm Springs/Coachella resort area. Riverside features an extensive range of relatively affordable housing options, notable schools, and outdoor recreational opportunities. The county encapsulates a small-town feel with local attractions including seasonal fruit picking and local wineries.
