The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for coordination of patient activities for the Surgical Coordinator Department to ensure compassionate and professional care, while acting as liaison for physicians, facilities, and patients regarding scheduling of emergent and elective surgeries and procedures.
The individual is responsible for coordinating surgeon's schedules, OR time and necessary assistants required for the procedure, as well as the acquisition of any specialized surgical equipment/supplies from outside vendors, as requested by the surgeon.

Responsibilities
Monday - Friday The Surgical Coordinator meets with potential surgical candidates to review the procedure, pre-admission testing requirements and medical clearances and answer any questions the patient may have regarding the surgery.
May schedule Appointments for any pre-operative care as specified by their surgeon's protocol and provide accurate documentation in Outlook, Surgimate and E-Clinical Works.
Obtains pre-certifications as mandated by each patient's insurance carrier and relays that information to the surgical facility.
Provides pre-admission testing results to the patient's PCP, cardiologist, etc, so that all clearances are obtained in a timely fashion.
Prepares all pre-op and post-op orders for physician review and signature and ensures they are faxed to the surgical site, in addition to H&P's, testing results, (PAT's, diagnostic imaging reports) and clearances.
Confirms calls to the Hospital or Surgery Center one week prior to ensure all requested documentation has been received and all requested special needs are available.
Acts as liaison with Surgimate, which is the department's software for managing and scheduling surgeries.
Follows all the customer service standards.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of timesheets/ time records for hours work and payroll processing.
Time records must be completed and approved by employee no later than close of business on last day of each pay period.
Responsible for timely completion of all new hire training, departmental training and yearly compliance training (Hpro) on an ongoing basis.
Perform other duties as requested by management as directed for business needs.
Requirements
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship Minimum High School Degree Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare /orthopedic organization
