While construction is underway, the majority of training will take place at Mount Carmel St. Ann's located at 500 S Cleveland Ave, Westerville, OH 43081. About the job: The Surgical Technician First Assist, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN's direction, sets up, and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures.What you will do:The surgical first assistant performs within the scope of service allowed by Mount Carmel Health System, even though they may have received training on tasks beyond what is allowable by the MCHS Scope for non-physician first assistants.Performs observable, technical behaviors (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) as delegated by the surgeon. Practices within boundaries set by state and federal regulation and/or licensure in a non-physician role.Ability to perform continuously detailed tasks with frequent interruptions and re-prioritize work constantly.Assists in providing safe positioning of patents under the direct supervision of the RNAssists in surgical case preparation (equipment, supplies, and instruments).Collaborates with the surgeon to provide exposure of the field during operative procedure handles tissue and uses instruments under the direction of the surgeon.Anticipates and assists in providing hemostasis during operative procedures under the direction of the surgeon.Performs closure of surgical incisions as directed by surgeon.Select and apply appropriate wound dressing.Provides assistance in securing drainage systems to tissue.What we are looking for:Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
