Apply Today!Job Summary and QualificationsMaintain safe, physical environment and required equipment and suppliesGive direct patient care as delegatedAble to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to all age groupsProvide patient/family education that promotes healthy behaviors, supports recovery and enables the patients to be involved in decisions about their own careRespect patient privacy and confidentiality of personal communication with or about patientsNotifies the circulator nurse of any changes in patients' conditions noted, problems encountered and need for change in plan of careSupply inventory maintenanceBe an effective member of the health care team by:Restocking OR rooms as assignedAssisting with all aspects of care of patient to provide quality careAssisting with orientation of new employeesPulling surgical case suppliesParticipating in unit conferences and quality improvement projectsContinually develops skills to maintain competence and expand role to high level OR Tech and to function optimallyAble to identify potential or actual victims of abuse and understands proper reporting mechanismAble to recognize adverse drug reactions and demonstrates understanding of proper reporting mechanism once reaction is identifiedUse of patient care equipment and supplies safely and efficiently by practicing principles of good body mechanics and moving equipment and patientsRemoving discontinued use equipment from surgery rooms and storing in proper placesReporting broken/defective equipment/supplies promptly and removing from serviceInstrument set maintenanceHandling equipment safely trying to eliminate damage or breakageNotifying circulator of used supplies and equipment so appropriate charge records may be maintainedInforming circulator of use of implantable supplies to assure tracking of devices maintainedAssuring sterility of processed instrumentsUnderstanding principles in sterile processing and storing sterile supplies to maintain integrityDemonstrates compliance to policies related to proper posting of surgical cases and processing patients through the surgery departmentCommitment to professional growthSets personal goals to achieve personal satisfaction related to job performanceAttends educational programs/in-services related to job performance and self-development programsMaintain sterile technique according to established policies & procedures by: Maintaining sterile field until the patient leaves the operating roomFollowing aseptic technique when opening sterile suppliesAdhering to policies and procedure for scrubbing, donning gown and gloves, and setting up surgical field and Mayo standAssisting with the needle, sponge, and instrument count according to set policiesShares responsibility for carrying out the physicians' orders by reviewing and following preference cardsCommunicates any patient's report of pain to the nursing staffAssists in following as needed:Transport of patients between holding- surgery-PACUClean and disinfect endoscopes according to written procedurePerform surgical site prep as directed by physicianRecognizes possible signs and symptoms of complications of blood transfusion reactions i.e.
; itching, rash, back pain and reports to nurse immediatelyDemonstrates accountability for assigned duties, i.e.
case preparation, set-up, turn-over in a timely manner, cleaning, removal of appropriate equipment, stocking daily of assigned surgery roomDemonstrates accountability for assigned specialty areas of equipment and supplies to assure adequate stock for case needsAssist in PI data collectionAssist in QC completionExhibits good interpersonal skills and maintains a collegial relationship with all team membersStrict adherence to the attendance policy What qualifications you will need:High School Graduate / GEDBasic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateRapides Regional Medical Center is a 350+ bed hospital and ER in Alexandria, Louisiana.
