ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do: The purpose of the Surveying Crew Chief, Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) position is to support the surveying component of the Geospatial Sciences Group in all aspects of collecting field survey data, record research, CAD finalization, and delivery of required project information that meets or exceeds the expectations of our clients.
Primary Responsibilities (others may be included): Support and follow company policies and proceduresParticipate in regularly-scheduled meetingsHelp create a positive work environmentRespond promptly to all communicationsCollect field survey data at an adequate speed (specific to each project and task)Produce geospatial data that meets the clients' specifications and meets quality standardsAssemble all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete various types of survey work assignmentsClear obstacles such as vegetation or snow that may interfere with a clear line of site to conduct surveyingFunction as a rod-person or instrument-personDraft the initial field drawing using AutoCAD or a related software packageDownload daily field data from data collector unit to laptopProvide positive client/public relations as individuals are encountered in the fieldObtain additional direction, guidance and support as required to complete assigned tasksWork with other staff in a professional mannerBring issues, whether project, staff, or equipment related, to the attention of managementApproach assignments with a "can do" attitudeComplete timesheets on-time and as directedComplete expense reports on-time and as directedComplete corporate paperworkPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsWhat you bring to our firm: High School Diploma with Valid Driver's License. Solid knowledge of AutoCADMust have PLS certification or in the process of obtaining the certification.Experience and/or solid understanding of complex survey technical requirements from clients and agencies such as PennDOT, FAA, etc.Must have knowledge and experience in performing survey work using GPS receivers and methods, robotic total stations, levels, etc.Experience in geodetic and photo control surveys, property boundary surveys, deed research, bathymetric surveys, and general collection of detail planimetric and terrain dataExperience and/or strong desire to use modern survey equipment such as sUAS, terrestrial scanners, echo-sounders and related bathymetric survey equipmentMust be able to travel for multiple days when necessaryLearn quickly while working in a physically demanding environmentActively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm: Bachelors or Associates degree with specialized vocation training in survey, engineering, or CAD technologyAt least five years of experience in the field and officePhysical Requirements: Must be capable of physical work that will include carrying survey equipment through potentially difficult terrainMust be able to work in various weather conditions and temperaturesMust be able to drive survey trucks, all-terrain utility vehicles, and at times pull a trailer with an ATV or small boat on-board the trailer.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Featured Benefits: Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.Access to company vehicle provided for inspection work.Comprehensive health benefits package including wellness, maternity/paternity leave, and employer paid AD&D, STD, and LTD.401(k) company matchVacation accrual separate from sick time.Eleven (11) paid holidays for 2024 with the option to substitute 2 holidays for employees to celebrate other day(s) of significance.Six (6) day winter break in 2024 that is included in the paid holiday schedule.Gannett Fleming TranSystems is proud to be an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer and ensures nondiscrimination and equal employment opportunity in all programs and activities in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
