You will be the leader of an incredible 200+ person engineering organization distributed across the world, with concentrations in Sydney, San Francisco, Austin, Kyiv, and Poland.
You will bring demonstrated success building, growing, and scaling engineering teams and processes. You are passionate and opinionated about building scalable, reliable, and high-quality platforms, and have a strong architectural opinion. You will work together with our Product Management, Program Management, Product Design, and other teams to deliver an industry-leading SaaS platform in eCommerce.
In your first year at BigCommerce, your focus will include: Establishing a technical vision that the global team utilizes to build over the next several years Improving quality processes to ensure large enterprise brands' and retailers' expectations are met for existing and future features Continuing to scale the BigCommerce platform to support larger merchants at a higher performance level to lead the industry Driving technical innovation and continuously refining the technology strategy to stay ahead of the industry Recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent, cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and collaboration Act as a proactive leader, anticipating potential challenges, mitigating risks, and implementing solutions to ensure success In this role, we have a preference for Austin, TX or San Francisco, CA based employees who can work hybrid/on-site. Technical Passion and experience scaling SaaS platforms at scale Ability to execute at both an architectural and hands-on level Polyglot experience working across many languages, platforms, and technologies (we work across Scala, Ruby, PHP, and Go today) Ability to mentor and grow our most senior IC's Leadership Strong decision-maker.
