Preferred Qualifications2+ years of experience providing tier 1 customer support in higher education2+ years of experience managing Windows environmentSkilled in Active Directory, DHCP, and ProteusAV and Digital Signage managementPosition SummaryThis incumbent will be responsible for the daily operations of high profile production systems providing central IT services to the Georgia Center and other Public Service and Outreach division departments.
Typical Responsibilities Include:Administration of virtual server and desktop environment, including management and provisioning of storage and virtual networking.Server installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading.Monitoring server availability and performance.Performing emergency troubleshooting and issue resolution.Network administration of Ethernet wired and wireless technologies, firewall/router management.End user desktop support.Develop standards and recommendations for critical functions and services, such as system configuration and backup & recovery.Develop and maintain written documentation to support the maintenance of production quality services.Working as part of a team without close supervision.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or CompetenciesHardware experience: x86/x64 desktop and server hardware, Network Attached Storage/Storage Area Network hardware, Firewall/VPN/Router experience.
Software experience: Apple OS X, Sonicwall SonicOS, Microsoft Windows Server/Desktop OS, VMware ESXi/vCenter, desktop management software tools.
Physical DemandsJob takes place in normal environmental conditions. This position will spend long periods of time standing and/or sitting at a computer. Lift and carry up to 50lbs of equipment frequently needed.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesVirtualization and Storage Administration:
a. Administration of a VMware vCenter server cluster of approximately 65 servers.
b. Administration of high capacity storage area networks and data backups.
Microsoft Server Administration:
a. Responsible for Windows systems administration, including installation of new Windows-based servers.
End User Desktop Support:
a. Respond to requests for service and engage in proactive computer support for users as assigned.
Network Administration:
a. Responsible for the configuration and management of multiple HP Procurve switches.
Industry Specific System Support:
a. Provide hardware and software support for various software used by the hotel.
