UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a System Engineer opportunity to support an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project. System Engineer Location: Aiken, SCJob Description The purpose of this position is to plan and perform work requiring sound technical/business judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments worldwide. This role has the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and Fluor profitability of the completed project. This is a senior position that may assume Project Engineer, Area Project Manager or Engineering management job assignment responsibilities on a large size project, multiple medium size projects or complex segment of a larger project, in compliance with the project needs and per directions provided by the Project Director, Project Manager or the Engineering Manager. The Systems Engineering individual supports processes that provide the orderly establishment of the project documentation and data.Perform essential project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problemsCollaborate in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines in accordance with the established project baseline documents Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractorsSupport creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plansSupport creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against theseSupport coordination between design, procurement, material management and construction on technical and schedule requirementsAssist the Project Director/Project Manager (PD/PM) in developing the required documentation to communicate (client/internal) project contractual and technical issues, status and progress reports; conduct/coordinate related meeting as necessaryOther duties as assigned Basic Job RequirementsAccredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and (15) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner Discipline Specific Job Requirements Make use of Fluor University courses for continued learning experiences Utilize knowledge management communities to capture, support, and leverage relevant knowledge to enhance project execution Participate in vendor trade shows and become familiar with new technologies and industry business direction Preferred QualificationsEight (8) year of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry including a minimum of one (1) successful construction and/or commissioning completed field assignmentExperience executing and managing risk assessments initiativesExperience in the performance of functional tasks on projects with a well-developed understanding of procedures and interfacesExperience in international locations and diverse cultural environments is recommended Previous successful performance in a project engineering position on a minimum of two medium or large sized projectsDetailed knowledge of Fluors software tools and databases preferredProficient at initiating and growing solid relationships with clients, vendors and suppliers while meeting the company business needs and goalsDemonstrate strong interpersonal skillsAbility to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasksProactive in taking prompt and appropriate action to ensure objectives are accomplished and apply necessary follow-up to monitor progress and results of project tasks and assignments Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutionsTechnical and business writing skillsAble to conduct presentations in a manner which engages the audience that promotes understanding and retaining of the messageInnovative and able to generate and consider alternative strategies or approaches to work problems and opportunitiesBasic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and project management tools Certification in project management suggested, for example Project Management Professional (PMP) UDR Consulting, INC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned, Small Disadvantaged Business.  An Equal Opportunity Employer that considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected Veterans, or individuals with disabilities.  UDR also supports a drug-free work environment.
