Main Objective: Provides technical assistance related to federal, state and international tax matters affecting Arthrex, Inc. and its subsidiaries. Works with, and provides assistance to, the Senior Manager to help assure that compliance requirements are met timely and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Utilize a variety of financial systems (SAP, TM1, Cognos) to gather necessary data and support for tax compliance. Analyze financial data in order to identify (1) necessary book/tax differences and (2) data to be used in complex tax calculations. Preparation and initial review of federal, state, and international tax compliance workpapers for all organizational entities and individuals. Preparation and initial review of quarterly estimate/extension calculations, including coordination of payments. Preparation and initial review of tax returns for individuals and small entities. Review miscellaneous compliance, such as FBARs, 5500s, and intercompany 1099s. Perform quarterly fixed asset tax reconciliations - utilization of FAS software, reviewing new assets for proper tax classification and recovery periods, and computing annual book/tax fixed asset adjustments. Assist with data gathering for, and draft responses to, federal, state, and local income/franchise tax audits. Participate in various tax projects, as assigned by the Senior Manager; including research of tax compliance matters. Manage the internal tax calendar to ensure all tasks and accurate due dates are stated. Keep current with tax changes and industry trends in order to alert management of potential tax opportunities. Build cross functional relationships with members of finance, legal, treasury, and other departments in order to gather accurate tax data and drive tax efficiencies and innovation. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. CPA Certification or progressing towards a CPA certification preferred. 3+ years in public accounting, corporate tax department, or other equivalent experience. Must have a general knowledge of US and state tax laws and regulations. Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: Experience in federal, state and local, and international tax laws involving individual, corporate, and flow-through entities. Experience in analyzing and calculating book/tax differences. Experience with state apportionment and multi-state returns. Experience with tax compliance software and tax research software (OneSource, CCH). Experience with a variety of application software (Microsoft Office, SAP, FAS) Strong business writing skills and strong oral communication skills. Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and complete assigned tasks to by established deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact in a positive manner with other employees in the Finance team, outside advisors and auditors. Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: PCs; Microsoft Office; database; and general office equipment. Experience in tax preparation software, OneSource RS Express preferred.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
