Compensation: Dependent on Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity. Serves as a subject matter expert in tax discipline or specific industries. Ensures that all client assignments are carried out within budgeted time while maintaining high quality. Assumes full responsibility for larger and more complex tax returns, delegating tasks to appropriate tax preparers when necessary. Active participation in client meetings and tax planning efforts to collaborate with the Audit and Assurance Department on significant client projects. Acts as a principal resource for tax-related queries for both tax specialists and audit staff. Manages and oversees client service for specific clients, including those delegated by partners. Keeps firm personnel updated on crucial tax and regulatory developments affecting clients. Manages governmental tax examinations and represents clients before taxing authorities as needed. Maintains oversight of tax staff qualifications, ensuring appropriate task assignments and fostering professional development. Leads the effort in the development, coaching, and training of the tax department's personnel. Ensures accurate and timely billing and collection processes. Stays informed on economic trends and potential legislation that could affect the business environment. Engages in firm practice development activities through connections with referral sources and participation in industry and community events. Responsible for occasional travel to client sites, meetings, and seminars. Overtime work as required, especially during peak tax season. Minimum Position Qualifications: Seven to ten years of experience in public accounting with a demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope. At least two years of experience in representing clients before taxing authorities. One year of experience in supervising and directing the work of tax preparers. Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's degree in taxation preferred. Ongoing commitment to continuing education with a minimum of forty hours annually. Active and valid CPA license. Membership in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Taxation. Extensive experience in a supervisory role within a tax department. Strong familiarity and compliance with all pertinent IRS regulations. Proven ability in managing a diverse team of tax professionals. Excellent interpersonal and client-facing skills. Skills: Expertise in various tax forms and filings. Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
