Tax Directors are responsible for (but not limited to): · Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations at all levels of complexity
· Ensuring all federal and state income tax returns are prepared timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws
· Delegates and manages tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient product
· Participates actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Business Assurance Department with larger clients
· Acts as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Business Assurance Staff on specific tax issues and/or questions
· Assumes client service responsibility for clients working directly with the clients when the responsibility is delegated from the Partner
· Communicates to the appropriate firm personnel important tax and tax developments affecting the firm's clients
· Supervises tax team and provides on the job training
· Assists the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients when deemed necessary
Requirements The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes: · Current CPA license is required
· 8 years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and research
· At least 2 (two) years representing clients before taxing authorities
· Minimum of 1 (one) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent accounting hours required. Master's degree in Taxation preferred
· Minimum 40 hours of continuing education is required yearly
· Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs
· Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation / workflow software is a plus preferred
