Cannabis Manager Job Description:
Individuals at this level are CPAs with a minimum of three years of experience as a Senior Cannabis Staff Associate, including a minimum of six full busy season cycles (or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the partners).
The Cannabis Manager will demonstrate technical proficiency, advanced communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to supervise complete engagements.
Cannabis Managers are expected to:
Plan, supervise, review, and complete engagements and deliverables Have previous experience working with an accounting firm in the Cannabis industry or previous experience in the tax department of an MSO Supervise both Cannabis Staff and Senior Cannabis Staff Associates, evaluate their progress and provide feedback to them, and review continuing education progress and direction for personnel Further their expertise in the Cannabis area, including maintaining a solid command of all resources and tools available to be able to solve complex problems and find relevant solutions Strong knowledge of IRC Section 280E Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm Assist in appropriate firm administrative functions, including overseeing and delegating Cannabis projects as assigned by the partners Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing Cannabis clients Be recognized as the "go to" person for the Cannabis specialization Participate in and provide input on major decisions on procedures and processes Be identified by clients as their significant, trusted contact Oversee Cannabis projects and staff, including managing workloads and working with other Cannabis managers to ensure the successful completion of all engaged work in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner Coordinate the overall scheduling, planning, and execution phases of Cannabis engagements, ensuring work is completed on schedule Maintain profitable realization rates and generate budgets Review work papers and returns and determine compliance with firm policy and professional standards Manage risk and ensure quality control procedures are being executed Represent the firm by presenting on Cannabis expertise at third-party functions and for in-house CPE Complete performance evaluations constructively and timely, and provide ongoing performance feedback to employees Maintain required annual CPE and ensure all direct reports are also compliant with appropriate CPE
