Ullico Inc., is actively recruiting a Tax Manager for our Silver Spring, MD office.
This position will perform varied tax planning and compliance duties relating to the Ullico consolidated federal income tax return and provision.
Perform varied tax planning and compliance duties related to UIA investment fund Partnership portfolios.
Prepare GAAP/STAT tax provisions on quarterly/monthly basis.
Preparation of all partnership and Canada tax returns.
Job Duties/Responsibilities are as follows: Initiate and prepare annual federal and state income tax returns using data retrieved from G/L and from other sources.
Prepare quarterly and annual GAAP/STAT tax provisions from underlying accounting records.
Analyze data in terms of prior results and expectations, as well as reconciling the data to outside sources and expected outcomes.
Review and analyze trial balance to investigate and research large and unusual items and make decision on tax treatment.
Supervise the filing of companies' 1099, 1042s and W-2 reporting requirements.
Perform tax research related to 1099, 1042s and W-2 reporting.
Provide explanations and analysis to external auditors in connection with audit of tax provision workpapers.
Supervise the preparation of the Fixed Asset System and quarterly depreciation entries, annual inventory, disposal entries and roll forward schedules.
Prepare or supervise with preparation of partnership tax returns and ERISA compliance Form 5500 for ULLICO direct filing entities.
Prepare or supervise with preparation of ULLICO Foundation return Prepare or supervise with preparation of ULLPAC return and the monthly filing of the PAC filings with the FEC.
Prepare or supervise the preparation federal and state tax payments quarterly.
Supervise the preparation of the intercompany tax settlements as required under the ULLICO tax sharing agreement.
Verifies and/or follows up on account reconciliations assigned to Tax Accountant II.
Supervise the preparation of the Form 941 and 945 and reconcile account information associated with said filings.
Supervise the preparation of the prepare monthly sales tax returns and annual property tax returns.
Perform tax research and analysis on either CCH Intelliconnect or BNA Tax research platforms.
Assess tax issue, research and develop a course of action.
Perform other similar and related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance along with 5 to 7 years of experience in Partnership Tax, Corporate Tax and/or Accounting.
Experience in the insurance industry is a decided plus.
CPA is strongly desired.
Advanced Excel and spreadsheet reporting skills are required.
Must have supervisory experience and be able to deal with all levels of internal associates and outside agencies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail are critical for this role.
