Wealthfront is seeking a Tax Manager to join the Finance and Accounting team in building a scalable infrastructure to support a dynamic, high-growth business. As the company's first tax hire, the Tax Manager will play a foundational role in developing and managing the tax function, including overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, assisting with tax provisions, and preparing tax returns.
The Tax Manager will collaborate closely with leading accounting, tax, and advisory firms to leverage their expertise and ensure best practices, fostering a supportive and solutions-oriented environment. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Accounting, this position offers the unique opportunity to design and implement key tax processes while eventually building and leading a tax team to scale with the company's growth.
As a partner to the entire Finance and Accounting team, you will combine a commitment to Wealthfront's mission with a passion for leading a strategic function that supports critical operating decisions across the organization.
\n Tax Planning and ComplianceParticipate in all stages of tax planning initiatives, providing guidance in accordance with ASC 740Prepare income tax accounting memoranda to document analysis and conclusions for transactions and other non-routine matters, ensuring compliance with internal controls Lead tax engagements, manage deadline expectations, prepare and/or review tax returns.Review quarterly estimates, extensions, returns and assist with annual tax projectionsResearch and consult on various tax issues Tax Operations and FilingMaintain the tax calendar to ensure timely filing and complianceHandle in-house monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, such as franchise, B&O, and gross receipts taxesCommunicate with IRS and state tax authorities in response to audits, inquiries, and tax notices.Review and submissions of annual 1099s Basic QualificationsMinimum of six (6) years of corporate income tax experience, including four (4) years of provision tax experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldWorking knowledge of the U.S. GAAP accounting principles and ASC 740Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a teamMust be highly dedicated with a positive attitude, self-motivated, a team player who takes initiative and is willing to learn Preferred QualificationsCPA and/or Master's in TaxationExpertise in navigating complex tax regulations and lawsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills in tax-related mattersAbility to develop and implement tax planning strategiesExperience with Netsuite, Carta, Shareworks, MS Office/G suite
