BronxWorks is hiring Two (2) Teacher Assistant/Floater for the ECLC Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Lead Teacher in maintaining records on each child's progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with Head Start Standards.
Assist Lead Teacher with the full implementation of performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center (3 years-5 years of age).
Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program's curriculum.
Assist Lead Teacher in reviewing the progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child's growth and development based on assessment of skills, interests, and needs.
Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to the growth and development of children.
Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
Assist teacher in the full implementation of IEP's and inclusion of children with disabilities and special needs.
Assist the teacher with planning and implementing education field trips.
Assist the teacher in conducting home visits and staff/parent conferences.
Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development.
Responsible for assisting Education Director and teacher in implementing parent involvement activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent credentials.
Completion of some college credits in Early Childhood Education Preferred.
CDA or 15 credits hours in Early Childhood Education.
Teacher Assistant Certification Preferred.
One year of prior teaching experience in Headstart and/or UPK program.
Bilingual English and Spanish language skills preferred.
Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
