Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the two full-time, non-exempt position of Teacher Assistant in the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC).
This position reports directly to the Director of the Early Childhood Education Center and is located in River Forest, IL.
The Teacher Assistant collaborates with the Lead Teacher to support the physical, social, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional development of the children in the Early Childhood Education Center through a nurturing, Christ-centered, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Responsibilities/Duties: Fosters the development of each child spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionallyCollaborates with head teacher to support curriculum by implementing plans outlined by head teacher as directedPrepares and assists with the physical preparations and clean-up of classroom activities as outlined in each classroom's list of dutiesMaintains responsibility for the health and safety of the childrenPromotes the Center's mission/vision statementMaintains appropriate contact with and provides support for parents and familiesServes as a center-wide substitute as neededAssists with monitoring and supervising the work and attendance of lab students, observation/methods students, and student teachers as neededFollows standards set by DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services, NLSA (National Lutheran School Association) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)Candidates must support and be committed to the of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Skill Sets: Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skillsSuperior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsEnthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University ChicagoStrong attention to detailAbility to organize and prioritize tasksAbility to work with and cooperate with supervisory staff at all levelsAbility to review, understand, and apply concepts presented at conferences and/or professional literature Minimum Experience Required:
1 year of experience as an assistant teacher in an Early Childhood Education Center preferred
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
