Job Description: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - Orientation & Mobility Specialist
Location: Federal Way, WA
Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday
Contract Duration: 7 weeks
Pay Rate: $50/hr

We are seeking a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with a specialization in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) to join a team in Federal Way, WA. Job Responsibilities: Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, focusing on orientation and mobility skills. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs of each student. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to student learning. Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual and mobility skills and identify areas for improvement. Create and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters independence and confidence in students. Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in the field of visual impairment and orientation and mobility. Qualifications: A valid state certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist. Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting. Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment used by students with visual impairments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to student-centered learning and a positive attitude.
