TEACHING ASSISTANT - METCS

Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Chairperson of Mathematics, Engineering Technologies & Computer Sciences or designee, the Teaching Assistant will assist the MTH 095 professor by providing both in-class and outside-of-class support to students in order to improve overall class academic performance.
Supervisory Role
Oral and written instructions are received from the Chairperson of Mathematics, Engineering Technologies & Computer Sciences or designee.
Duties & Responsibilities
1.
Attend all class sessions in order to support students while they are completing individual class work and/or small group work assigned by the professor.
2.
Be available in class to provide one-on-one assistance to any student who needs supplemental help during the professor's lecture.
3.
Be available outside-of-class for an additional scheduled number of hours each week to tutor students either in a one-on-one or small group format.
4.
Perform other related duties as required.

Additional Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1.
ECC student in a STEM major with strong mathematics skills.
2.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment at all times.
3.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills.
4.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
5.
Ability to communicate effectively.
6.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Minimum Education Requirements
Associate's Degree
Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.
)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1.
Major in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related area.
2.
One or more years experience as a tutor or teaching assistant.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.
)
