Description
The Production Team Lead will work with the Supervisor and/or Manager within a department of the food manufacturing, warehouse operation to ensure efficient and accurate goals are met or exceeded daily.
This position provides organizational support and is responsible for a variety of other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
In addition, but not limited to, anticipate and address issues on the production floor including safety, quality, food safety, employee issues, and production results.
You will actively work to resolve team members' concerns and noncompliance matters.
Responsible for providing constructive and positive feedback to help build employee confidence and develop their skills.
Responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring team members.
Requirements
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will set up and run the production line each day, ensure the line is properly stocked during assembly runs, quality and completion goals are met, and closely inspect the output for run rates, quality and shift to company standards.
Drives production goals, sets the pace for productivity, may correct unsafe actions and ensures proper processes are followed.
Duties include:
Job Description: Leads production team members to cut, slice, run product, sort, pack, bag, label product in accordance with specifications and expected timelines.
Proactively drives best practices and improvements over a team of employees covering one or more production lines with responsibility for all aspects of performance results Responsible to ensure guidelines are adhered to for product & process safety, food safety, the materials, supplies, changeovers, run rates and labor on the line; do not impact on overall line performance.
Responsible for providing a safe work environment and food safety compliance, ensuring all productivity goals, policy, company standards, and procedures are met.
Analyze potential problems and takes appropriate action to remedy any shortfall in performance, seeing actions through to completion/implementation.
Continuously monitors quality of work performed.
Consistently monitors activity to achieves agreed targets and KPIs.
Ensure production line or area of responsibility have required staffing, stock, packaging, and materials to maintain flow & reduce downtime.
Escalates issues to the Supervisor or Manager.
Communicate the product name, accurate specification sheets are ready for line(s) start-up and the end of production.
Accounts for all team members and agency temps within the production area, ensuring accurate headcount, breaks, timely meal breaks, proper PPE is worn, positive reinforcement, and coaching.
Ensure the proper labels are prepared for the product runs.
Demonstrates knowledge of standard product run rates and ensure line is meeting them.
May document product run information, reasons for failure to meet run rates or downtime experienced.
Responsible for inventory controls and maintains accurate inventory of materials and supplies.
Inspects equipment before use and reports malfunctions, repairs needed or concerns.
Must be proactive in notifying mechanical issues to Maintenance.
Input Red Zone notifications when necessary.
Identify employees that are not wearing proper PPE and addresses the matter or reports to a supervisor or Manager when repeated noncompliance is addressed for correction.
Identify safety concerns or violations related to the line operations.
Report safety and security issues for all employees.
Ensure quality and safety of food products by periodic inspection and review of finished products for uniformity to specifications, label integrity, presentation.
Verifies completion and accuracy of orders.
Ensure completion of paperwork associated with the job.
Supports equipment and material trials and ensures all settings and procedures are documented Performs other duties as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
Experience in a related position preferred A team player with previous experience working in a chilled warehouse or manufacturing environment Experience tracking inventory materials and supplies and using an Inventory Scan gun and helpful Must be able to start-up and safely operate common food manufacturing equipment Good knowledge and understanding of Safe work practices common to food warehousing or manufacturing Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred Basic computer skills (Word and Excel) preferred.
Ability to risk assess and monitor productivity in a fast-paced environment and adjust ways of working accordingly SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Ability to lead a team of employees to achieve goals and targets Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) safe work practices, GMP's, HACCP, and Quality Assurance practices in a food warehouse or manufacturing environment Knowledge of proper cleaning/sanitation of production areas and equipment Ability to work in a cold/ damp environment, stand and walk for extended periods Must be able to complete common paperwork related to inventory, receiving and material handling Ability to read computer generated reports Must have strong interpersonal and employee relation skills Ability to read, comprehend and speak professionally with team members Must have basic mathematical skills WORK DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job work is primarily performed in a chilled environment.
