Position Description This Tech Lead/ Engineering Manager role is expected to be a thought leader and a strong engineering executor to a growing engineering team. You will be a people and project manager that will also code: you are expected to do 60% of coding and 40% of people/project managing a distributed and remote engineering team in Asia - the remote team is partially overlapped with PDT schedule.

Responsibilities:60% of your time will be spent coding40% of your time will be spent managing the team, delegating tasks, code reviews, devops, collaborating cross functionallyManage an offshore engineering team based in AsiaWork with product + ops team to design, develop, new features, both customerMaintain and develop features that involve complex logic (commission, accounting)Experience working with external APIs (OpenAI, Stripe, Kustomer, other webhooks)Experience with A/B testing and relevant tools (LaunchDarkly, Amplitude specifically)Review product specifications and provide feedback (feasibility, priority)Maintain, improve and develop features for customer facing portal and internal toolingNavigate complex codebaseConduct code reviews to ensure qualityTake ownership of devops process (staging, testing, launch, post launch)Navigate existing complex codebase and fix bugsRequired Skills:TLDR: The ideal candidate is a San Francisco based engineer with at least 1 year of management experience, that has worked in a fast growing tech company in a logistics or marketplace industry.4+ years as a software engineer. A mixed experience of big tech + startup is desirable.Experience with leading/managing a small team, or leading a project as a tech leadBe able to run daily stand-ups at 8 AM, given time zone differences of the offshore team.Work from our downtown San Francisco office 3 - 4 days a week.Experience with full stack development. You are expected to do both front end and back end work.Experience with Node.jsExperience with frontend frameworks, specifically ReactJSFamiliarity with postgres and database design.Excellent communication skills, and having an understanding of over-communication in leading a remote team.You need to have the proper work authorization - we don't sponsor work visa unfortunately.Preferred Skills:Experience leading a remote or distributed team is highly preferred.
