Job Summary
To assist the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Team.
Duties include, but not limited to, preparing patients for orthopedic procedures, donning, and doffing common orthopedic devices and appliances.
Works in collaboration with Supply Distribution and Sterile Processing to provide nursing staff and rehab therapy team with supplies and sterile equipment daily.
All work is performed under the supervision of a physician or appropriate licensed practitioner.
Ensure appropriate orthopedic materials are available at point of service.
Apply, adjust, fit, and remove all common orthopedic devices, traction and other similar devices and appliances ordered by a physician or other practitioner.
Maintain orthopedic materials, supplies, surgical and other instruments, and equipment; assemble and dissemble and calibrate orthopedic equipment and instruments.
Assemble, disassemble, and maintain traction beds and equipment for patient care needs.
Techs may also be asked to interact with staff and patients, assist nursing with basic mobility/transfers, use computerized documentation, and occasionally participate in shared administrative tasks.
This is a great learning opportunity to work with Dr. Sterling, A nationally recognized leader in hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Sterling is widely published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, The Journal of Arthroplasty, and the Journal of Frailty & Aging, among others.
He is an authority on optimization of patients for joint replacement surgery along the continuum of care, including clinical pathways and educational strategies.
He has served on national standard setting committees for clinical care and for establishing education and training standards for orthopaedic residents and fellows.

Qualifications REQUIREMENTS Education/Qualification Completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technician certification from NBCOT or ASOP required.
Certifications-Current certification of Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals Skills/Knowledge General knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices Working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances and proper fitting Able to mobilize patients either within the bed or chair to properly fit orthopedic devices Medical terminology pertaining to orthopedics Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity Able to speak and write English Fluently Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills Knowledge of medical terminology Understanding and following oral and written instructions Basic understanding of word and excel About Universal Health Services
