The Technical Sales Representative, Plant Solutions is an integral part of our Sales team based out of our US - Teaneck, NJ - Remote site.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Technical Sales Representative to join our Plant Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales and fostering strong relationships with clients by providing expert guidance on our plant solutions. Your technical acumen and exceptional communication skills will be key to addressing customer needs and achieving sales targets. This is a business development role that will focus on B2B account prospecting and development. The specific priorities are to sell the Phibro tech strains and qualify new companies for pilot/scale up/toll fermentation opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Sales Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the plant solutions sector, including generating leads, qualifying prospects, and closing sales. Client Consultation: Engage with clients to understand their current and discovery product lines including technical requirements, offering tailored solutions that enhance their revenue growth. Product Expertise: Provide in-depth knowledge of Phibro microbial competencies, including technical specifications, packaging, and applications. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business. Technical Support: Offer technical support and troubleshooting for clients, addressing any issues or concerns related to our products and services. Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and stay ahead of the curve. Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and product development teams to ensure that client feedback and requirements are communicated effectively and incorporated into future product offerings. Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and progress toward targets. Provide regular reports to management on sales performance and market insights. Considerable travel is expected. 30 to 45% which is seasonally variable. Face-to-face prospecting of new customers and networking at industry tradeshows and technical events will be required to be successful. Skills Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must have proven sales skills and previous contact with clients and their operation. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients. Able to plan and set priorities for accomplishing tasks and goals. A motivated self-starter, work well in groups, and demonstrate excellent customer service. Ability to travel as necessary. Must have business acumen, energy and drive, positive attitude, client-focused, flexible, and empathetic. Strong negotiation skills and project management experience. Able to handle client complaints with calm demeanor and professional attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products. Must be proficient using Email, phones, cell phones, and office equipment. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate verbally and in writing with others in an objective and cooperative manner. Must have problem-solving capabilities. Education & Experience Education: Bachelor's degree in microbiology, business, or agricultural related field. A technical background or equivalent experience in ag biologicals industry is preferred. Experience: Proven track record in technical sales, with at least 3-5 years of experience in selling complex agronomy-related inputs. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of product development, technical specifications, and grower application methods. Ability to quickly grasp and convey complex technical information.
