Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI 48202 Salary Range: $32.67 -$36.05 (hourly) Reports to: Executive Director, Office of College and Career Readiness Bargaining Unit : DAEOE Benefits Eligibility : Yes Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up to 40% (two days per week) In accordance with the Agreement between Detroit Association of Educational Employees (DAEOE) and the Detroit Public School Community District the following vacancy is announced: Position Summary: The Technical Series Level IV position (Perkins Grant Technician) plays a critical role in supporting career-technical education (CTE) operations and the Career Pathway Programs by managing databases, coordinating grant-related activities, and providing technical and administrative support.
This role involves processing a high volume of requisitions, travel packets, and field trip logistics for career and technical education (CTE) programs at technical centers and at various high schools; and ensuring compliance with state and federal (Perkins V) grants.
This position also requires maintaining strong working relationships with the Office of Career and Technical Education (MDE) personnel, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with the preparation of financial and year-end expenditure reports.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills while effectively managing multiple responsibilities and collaborating with stakeholders to meet organizational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma with preferred technical training in District and State applications such as eProcurement, PeopleSoft Finance, and PeopleSoft HR.
Intermediate proficiency in office automation tools, including integrated software, spreadsheets, databases, time reporting, Adobe electronic signatures, travel management (in-state/out-of-state), and other electronic processes.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and training skills, with demonstrated professional writing and correspondence abilities.
Ability to problem-solve under pressure, multitask, and prioritize work assignments effectively.
Expertise in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
Leadership and teamwork skills with a clear understanding of how operational functions and support services impact student achievement.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in situations where processes may not be fully defined and/or provide recommendations to management.
Strong negotiation and empathy skills, effectively managing customer expectations, and turnaround times.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels of the organization, including external stakeholders.
Experience with grant-funded programs, financial systems, requisitions, and travel/field trip management, including invoice processing.
Working knowledge of compliance requirements of the CTE Perkins legislation, is helpful.
Essential Functions: Create, maintain, and revise databases for career technical centers, high schools, and the Office of College and Career Readiness, including budget and employee databases.
Develop relationships with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) to coordinate the collection of grant-related documents from District personnel and MDE.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide resolution for site administrators.
Provide information and support to employees and administrators on system access, assignments, and updates.
Assist CTE administrators and teachers with requisitions, travel packets, field trips, and related activities.
Assist in the onboarding process of new employees on CTE guidelines for the Perkins V Grant.
Manage financial records and prepare year-end expenditure reports for career-technical centers and high schools.
Input and manage purchase orders in the PeopleSoft System for travel and Perkins Federal-funded grant activities.
Maintain a database for State Added Cost expenditures and assist in scheduling and monitoring professional development for career-technical centers.
Collaborate with OCCR staff to gather information for State and Federal CTE reports and maintain attendance records for payroll.
Attend local and national professional development to stay abreast of changes with state and federal CTE grants.

Perform additional clerical duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
