Description As a Technical Specialist Level 2, you will work with the Build team, Engineering team, and Machining/Fabrication team.
What You'll Do: Participates in Design Review discussions associated with design for manufacturability to ensure that fabrication and manufacturing of relevant details are consistent with design, cost, and delivery targets.
Serves as mentor and coach to Level 1 associates. Exhibits leadership style and can lead lesser experienced individuals effectively. Applies supervisory skills when appropriate.
Assumes a contingency position supporting the business units in terms of recommending resources while Level 1 individuals are not available.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding outsourced capabilities and avails knowledge to other team members such as those in Supply Chain to optimize procurement activities.
Assists with developing and setting goals for others in terms of coordinating project expectations.
Releases jobs to Machining and Fabrication, such that scheduling and procurement are facilitated to meet build requirements – from cost to delivery date.
Coordinates unscheduled work between the Business Unit and the Machining & Fabrication Business Unit to ensure on-time delivery with respect to projects.
Provides answers to technical questions related to manufacturability by applying knowledge and competencies associated with machining and fabrication. Interprets technical data, specifications, and other information to generate cost options and recommendations.
Tracks status and progress of all piece parts and buyouts associated with relevant projects at the Business Unit. Ensures communication channels are open and effective, such that project timeline risks can be mitigated.
Tracks defects and other anomalies related to build projects that are associated with machining and fabrication – and participates in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA).
Interacts with Design Engineering team and contributes to Design Reviews as defined within the Engineering Scroll and other technical design activities.
Assists with the execution of ISO/Quality standards.
Responsible to display and promote a teamwork culture within the machinist group.
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.
Responsible for other duties that could be assigned which are consistent with the role's scope and complexity.
Organizes and maintains area of responsibility.
What You'll Bring: High school graduate or equivalent, technical/vocational/college preferred.
Minimum Experience: Five (5) years' experience with machining/best practices; hands-on knowledge of assembling; customer service experience.
Minimum Training: Machining; print/drawing interpretation; GD&T; 2-D and 3D CAD; Microsoft Office Products; written & verbal communication skills; negotiation skills.

Other Details: Work Environment: Office and factory environments. Requisite travel required to customer offices & production locations, etc. While working in production environments, the colleague might be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
