Job Title: Technical Support Engineer Position Summary
Working under the supervision of the Director of Engineering, you will support tasks related to design and manufacture, with a focus on service, repair, and commissioning of eddy current clutches, brakes, and electronic controls.
These products are used in various applications requiring speed and/or torque control.
While similar to variable frequency drives, these products offer unique advantages in certain applications.
This role primarily focuses on electrical and controls but includes some mechanical aspects.
You will interface directly with customers, sales, and manufacturing team members, providing technical support and on-site service to ensure products meet internal and industry standards and customer needs.
The role may require up to 30% travel, including international travel.
What will your day look like? Electrical control design work, including modifying existing controller layouts to meet specialized customer needs, new designs, and updating outdated components.
Mechanical eddy current drive and brake modification work, including support for design work.
Develop electrical/schematic drawings using AutoCAD and create bills of material to meet customer requirements.
Handle component changes due to obsolescence or supply shortages, including identifying component vendors and/or manufacturers.
Provide technical support to customers and in-house staff (Sales, Operations, Purchasing).
Perform testing and repair services along with commissioning of controls and/or mechanical equipment.
Program or modify controllers using Visual Basic, C, or assembly programs.
Provide warranty evaluation and potential customer on-site application changes to mitigate future problems.
What makes you the right fit? Foundational knowledge of rotating mechanical equipment and electronic controls and their use in industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent computer-aided design tools, as well as Microsoft Office.
Ability to analyze assembly drawings and identify components required to generate bills of materials.
Experience with troubleshooting mechanical equipment or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire the knowledge.
Ability to program and write clean, well-documented code.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to design and/or modify electronic circuits.
Dependable, resourceful, and efficient.
A technical or Associate degree is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
