Title: Technical Writer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
Provide authoring support and take on individual assignments to produce high quality Operation and Maintenance Manuals
Research engineering drawings to analyze product changes between models. Research existing content to ensure procedures are still valid in current OMM.
Make changes as needed and publish document.
Assigned mentor will work with you to develop authoring and illustration skills. This will also include research and 3D model manipulation.
Qualifications: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.
Basic knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
Basic knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Basic knowledge of computer software, such as Adobe, JavaScript, Oracle, etc.

Technical Skills: (Required)
Engineering print reading
Microsoft suite experience, most specifically SharePoint
(Desired)
Hydraulic/Electrical Schematic reading/comprehension
3D modeling experience (Creo, ProE, or equivalent)
Education / Experience: 2 yr. technical degree OR
Two years' equivalent mechanical experience
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required Master's or above would be considered overqualified
2-4 years' experience required.
