Technical Writer Londonderry, New Hampshire, United States Pay Range: $45-52/hr on W2 The Technical Writer and Training Developer is responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate documentation that may include manuals, procedures, training packages, reports, and other documents that support the development, production, and use of Clients products and services in accordance with applicable internal and military directives.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain technical documentation and training packages such as user manuals, system documentation, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other writers or personnel.
Knowledge of and experience writing to military standard requirements (MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-DTL-38807, etc.)
Knowledge of and experience writing to each military component training standard requirements.
Incorporate feedback from technical staff and users to continually improve documentation quality.
Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to meet deadlines.
Utilize content management systems and tools to manage documentation lifecycle.
Translate complex technical information into clear and understandable language for non-technical audiences.
Experience authoring Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals, Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), User's Manuals, and other related technical documents.
Essential Job Responsibilities: Capability to research and analyze detailed technical processes and extract technical information.
Capability to translate technical processes and technical information for training packages in accordance with applicable directives and policies.
Ensure all technical documentation and training materials complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Ability to coordinate with engineers, customer representatives, subject matter experts, vendors, customers and technical personnel as well as internal illustration team.
Qualifications: Requires strong knowledge of job area.
Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline.
May have broad knowledge of project management.
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Experience in technical writing, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or technology sectors.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Ability to understand and document complex technical concepts.
Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and others relevant to the task.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Understanding of IETM and Common Source Database (CSDB) development standards, best practices, and protocols.
CSDB management experience a plus.
Understanding of Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and Extensible Markup Language (XML).
Adaptable to changing priorities and workloads.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple publication and training packages efforts concurrently.
Ability to format documents to meet contract requirements.
Familiarity with engineering processes and systems is a plus.
Understanding of IETM and Common Source Database (CSDB) development standards, best practices, and protocols.
CSDB management experience a plus.
Security Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance.
Adherence to ITAR, EAR, and CUI regulations as applicable.
