ABOUT THE ROLE: The Technical Writer/Drafter serves a vital role in creating a stellar Customer Journey for those who buy our products. This person will have great empathy for those customers who chose to assemble our products themselves and use the documentation you create to assemble and troubleshoot the product they have purchased . The documentation needs to be clearly understood by non-technical persons using primarily product diagrams, symbols, icons, and minimal verbiage. Assembly steps need to be detailed and coherent from beginning to end with little doubt of how the product goes together. We are looking for someone who can merge into our current methodology then evolve and manage the process and success rate of the documentation. Duties extend to producing other product related documents that are customer facing and utilized by various internal departments . Creating "near real" looking product renderings using various software is something to know or be willing to learn. If you are the person who can transport themselves in what the customer will experience when receiving our product and develop the means for them to go from a box of parts to a fully assembled product with no confusion, no frustration, and no anger, we want to talk to you.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned .
Organize meetings with engineers, Industrial Designers, and customer support representatives to identify needs and scope of assembly manuals, parts sheets, and other documentation. Independently develop drafts and arrange reviews with key stakeholders . Write, edit, organize, and publish manuals, instructions, catalogs, and other technical and administrative publications according to established processes and standards for style, content, and quality that are effective for the desired purpose. Create and update graphics for documentation including photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts to make publications easier for the audience to understand. Create assembly manuals and other product documents using SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Composer, and Adobe Illustrator. Know, or be willing to learn, how to create product renders using Blender/SolidWorks for public facing content. Improve workflow process, maintain , and improve design guidelines, collaborate on improving customers experience with our products and documentation. Willing to accept changes to work completed with appropriate change to schedule without emotional drama. Ability to read and understand 2-D drawings, 3-D solid models, engineering specifications, and maintenance. Must possess strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail . Ability to adapt to change and new information , including adapting behavior and work methods in response to changing conditions or unexpected obstacles. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to move from one job task to another quickly and demonstrate problem solving skills. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient with SolidWorks SolidWorks Composer SolidWorks PDM Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams EDU CATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate 's degree preferred . 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training preferred c reating manuals and technical documentation for consumer goods.
