Job Summary:
The Technician Fiber I is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, terminating, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables in order to provide quality service for customers, using specialized tools and test equipment. Maintain daily contact with dispatch regarding service problems, and assignments concerning splicing notes and field information. Maintain daily contact with Network/Maintenance Technicians and Construction Department.

Qualification Requirements:
a. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent education
b. Experience Level: One year of construction experience required. Installation experience desirable.
c. Special Requirements:
i. Ability to work aloft up to 50' in a bucket truck, ladder or climb utility poles.
ii. Ability to work in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, etc.)
iii. Ability to distinguish between different tones.
iv. Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather.
v. Able and willing to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency repair.
vi. Ability to work independently and deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff.
vii. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transport up to 200 feet.
viii. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
ix. Licenses or Certifications: Valid driver's license required.
d. Skills Summary:
i. Demonstrated strong problem solving skills
ii. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
iii. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
