Program Length: 12 weeks (April through July)
Location: Projects are submitted online and judged virtually
Admissions Req: Any girl between the ages 10-18 or anyone who identifies as a girl is eligible to participate.
Highlight: Are you a girl aged 10-18 from anywhere in the world who enjoys solving real-life problems for social good? Then Technovation Girls' virtual hackathon might be for you! Technovation is about giving girls who are into technology and business the safe space to learn and work on both of their interests together. Participants have the unique opportunity to be involved in a hackathon-like project over an extended timeframe — supporting not only smaller individual projects but fostering the possibility for larger impactful ones as well. Participants can either start/join a new group of 1-5 girls within their community or find/start a virtual one with teammates from around the world through their online portal and directory of contestants. Each group can find or get assigned a mentor to guide them throughout the creation of their app, and everyone participating can join workshops that'll help you learn the basics of iOS and Android app building during this virtual hackathon. This virtual hackathon runs for 12 weeks (registration opens in October, and January marks the official start of the season — submissions close mid-April for the first round of judging). There is a junior and senior division for this virtual hackathon, so don't be scared about competing. The World Summit for this virtual hackathon is held mid-August, which could make for some pretty cool summer plans! Sign up here to save your seat at this techno hub for girls all around the world!
