The Technology Manager is pivotal in overseeing the engineering department's technology infrastructure, including the sourcing, design, implementation, and maintenance of engineering technology systems. This role encompasses data acquisition hardware, calibration, software for product development, regulatory compliance, simulation, and engineering processes. The Technology Manager will ensure robust, reliable, and secure environments for capturing and processing engineering data, and will act as the primary liaison among various departments (test lab, model shop, engineering teams, and commercial sales) to implement and support technology tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Environments:
Develop and configure custom engineering environments for testing, including hardware and network systems such as BACnet, Modbus, data acquisition systems (NI/LabVIEW, Hooks RTS), sound capture equipment (microphones, analyzers), and data storage solutions (data loggers, SQL/Server).
Network and Data Management:
Set up and maintain networked systems for data acquisition, ensuring secure data transmission in remote testing environments. Manage network communication between testing environments and data storage.
Hardware Optimization:
Manage, calibrate, and optimize hardware systems including servers, data loggers, and storage solutions to ensure data integrity and security.
System Maintenance:
Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of audio, video, and network communication systems for engineering tests. Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of custom testing systems and networked environments.
Training and Support:
Train engineers and technicians on the proper use and configuration of software, hardware, and data acquisition systems. Provide support and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
Vendor Management:
Interface with external vendors to source, purchase, and implement new test equipment and software solutions. Manage hardware procurement and data security policies in coordination with the IT department.
Documentation:
Develop and document system maintenance guidelines, data acquisition protocols, and network setup procedures to ensure sustainable lab operations.
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience managing hardware and software for data acquisition and network systems.
Proficiency in configuring and maintaining networked communication environments, including knowledge of protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
Strong IT and administration skills, including server management, network security, and data storage.
Experience with video and audio hardware (mixers, microphones, interfaces), connection methods (HDMI, SDI, XLR), and A/V editing software (Adobe Premiere, ProTools).
Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
Skills:
In-depth understanding of hardware systems, network protocols, and data acquisition technologies.
Proficiency in setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting networked systems and hardware.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Detail-oriented with the capability to manage complex technical environments and requirements.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
