Each year, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science interviews and selects 20 Teen Science Scholars to work as interns within the Science Division.    TSS is intended for high school students from underserved and/or underrepresented communities or schools. These internships provide hands-on opportunities to carry out scientific work alongside Museum scientists while exploring opportunities in museum and STEM careers. Scholars also participate in professional development activities, including public speaking, planning for college, and honing skills for joining the workforce. At the end of each session, Scholars celebrate and present their work and experiences during a Showcase event.  The Teen Science Scholar Program Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to mentors and supervisors while also assisting the teens accepted into the program. Job Class: Part TimeHiring Range: $21.00 per hourWork Schedule: This is a part time position that will last approximately from March to August 1st. Estimated schedule: Tues, Weds, Thurs, 8:30-3:30 and some Fridays, as needed.  Direct Reports: No direct reports. Essential DutiesCoordinates with staff to implement work assignments, field trips, student enrichment events, and parent events for students.Assists with the onboarding process and overall tracking of the Teen Science Scholars. Participates in field work if requested by mentors to provide mentoring to scholars and logistical support during these excursions.Assists with coordination of work plans and activities for scholars as needed by individual staff mentors.Minimum Qualifications/Requirements2 years' experience mentoring teenagers (15-19 years old) from communities that have been historically marginalized from the sciences.Current first aid certification or the ability to obtain within 1 week of hire (training provided by Museum). Valid U.S. Driver's License or ability to obtain within 1 week of hire.  Ability to work during summer, as needed.  Ability to spend full days in remote field locations, extensive walking.  Ideal Candidate Will Be/HavePassionate about working with teenagers who are interested in pursuing careers in science.Comfortable and knowledgeable about database management, and working with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.). English/Spanish bilingual preferred. Able to work independently as well as with a team. Application InstructionsPlease submit your resume by 6:00 p.m. MT on Friday, January 31, 2025.
