The TV Program Traffic Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of broadcast schedules. This position gathers, organizes, and inputs information to create the foundation for the daily television log. Through this work, a database is built and maintained to be used internally and externally, in reporting to the CRTC. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential for smooth daily operations and error-free reporting. The Coordinator will also assist with Closed Captioning work, as well as other TV programming-related functions.
Responsibilities will include SDS work:
creating and maintaining program information in compliance with CRTC reporting;creating and revising program break formats;scheduling weekly program schedules and subsequent revisions;applying break elements (promos, features, IDS, lineups, etc.) to the daily log. Other main duties of this position:
coordinating with multiple internal departments;daily follow up from the Operations report;contacting TV networks, external producers, etc. as required;providing listing companies with our lineups and any schedule changes;working with our simulcast data gatherer (Mediastats), to ensure broadcast distribution undertakings (BDUs, such as Bell TV and Shaw) have accurate information for simulcast substitutions;various closed captioning duties, including application of cc to in-house content, and preparation and submission of video & cc text files for evaluation;extra duties as required, especially those that support the organization's stated Goals and Objectives, as well as requirements of the TV Programming department.Required credentials & skills:
strong data entry skills and attention to detail;Microsoft office and basis computer knowledge;ability to work as a team as well as independently;general office experience;knowledge of SDS Traffic and in-house cc systems, or the ability to learn industry-specific software.
