Position Title: Tenured/Tenure-track Position in Aquatic Microbiology Job Posting Number: 2025034TTL Job Location: San Marcos Department: Biology Position Description: The Department of Biology at Texas State University invites applications for a tenured or tenure track position in Aquatic Microbiology. We are seeking qualified applicants specializing in the study of the microbiomes of aquatic resources (e.g., natural marine, freshwater, or estuarine aquatic ecosystems, municipal water or wastewater systems, aquaculture or agricultural water sources and runoff, desalination plants, recreational resources, or urbanized waterways) by leveraging emerging genetic/genomic technology and bioinformatics. The successful candidate will engage in university-wide collaborative initiatives to strengthen our research and mentoring efforts in emerging areas of microbial genomics, metagenomics, and biodiversity discovery. The candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program involving students that complements the strengths of our faculty and to teach in their area of expertise (e.g., microbiology, bioinformatics, genetics). Postdoctoral or relevant professional experience Preferred Qualifications: 1. Strong molecular genetics and bioinformatics skills 2. Record of external grant funding to support research 3. Evidence of successful supervision and mentoring of students and/or postdocs 4. Record of teaching at the collegiate level 5.
