If so, explore the exciting opportunity of becoming the Vehicle Operations & Maintenance (VOM) Supervisor with the City of Janesville!
In this pivotal role within the Department of Public Works – Operations team, you will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising the maintenance of the City's vehicles and equipment.
As the VOM Supervisor, your duties will include managing vehicle repair, overseeing central fueling, procurement, central storeroom management, and developing vehicle policies. Additionally, you will play a key role in acquisition, disposal, and replacement planning.
Utilizing your expertise in fleet and facility maintenance, you will work towards achieving the service standards set by the City Council, City Administration, and Operations Director. You will also assist in preparing and monitoring the VOM budget.
Your team will consist of a Crew Leader, Mechanics, Equipment Parts Specialist, and Fleet Support Specialist. Communication will be essential, as you will interact with City officials, department heads, staff, external stakeholders, and the general public, on a regular basis.

What qualifications are necessary for the role? To perform the essential duties of the position, the minimum education and experience required includes:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in public or business administration, fleet administration, occupational safety administration, diesel or automotive mechanics, supervisory management, facility administration or related field is required.Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible "experience in a vehicle maintenance shop or related setting is required. A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience is required.Possession of a Wisconsin DATCP Class A & B Underground Storage Tank Operator Certificate, or ability to obtain such license within six (6) months of hire.Have a valid state-issued driver's license at time of hire.Unsure you meet the qualifications? A combination of equivalent experience and/or education as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
What is the typical schedule? Typically, you will work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. When necessary, you will need to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to support the City's critical services.
What is the pay? The starting annual salary for this position is between $64,855 and $71,341 ($31.18 - $34.30 per hour) based on qualifications; this is a non-exempt position. This position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Council.

When factoring in the benefits alongside your annual salary, the overall compensation rate could range from $78,362 to $93,099 per year, contingent upon the selected benefits and coverage types.  
Furthermore, the City of Janesville strives to ease the transition between employers by minimizing the stress associated with gaps in insurance coverage. For new hires before the 15th of the month, medical, dental, and vision insurance become effective on the date of hire. For those hired on or after the 15th of the month, these benefits kick in on the 1st of the following month.
