The Transport & Waste Management Unit is responsible for managing our city's roading assets. Due to the diverse demands of the journey we are on, we are seeking an adaptable and enthusiastic engineer to join our Operations team.
About the role:
In this role you will work closely with the community and other stakeholders, identifying, planning and implementing operational improvements to the transport system, and managing operational challenges in the network, such as safety issues, congestion, and parking. A large part of this role involves investigating requests for improvements, preparing solutions and writing reports and communicating the results of investigations to customers and Elected Members. Therefore a high level of written and verbal communication is required together with the ability to learn and use Council reporting, recording and design systems. Duties you will undertake:
Receive and investigate requests relating to the operation of the transport system from a broad spectrum of individuals, organisations and groups within the community
Utilise sound engineering principles to identify issues, assess options, and apply appropriate solutions
Conduct investigations which include, but will not be limited to, safety improvements, pedestrian and cycling improvements, and parking studies
Communicate with individuals, organisations and groups within the community
Work within a highly experienced team, who are driven to support and share their knowledge
Who you are:
Qualified engineer, with traffic or transportation engineering experience
A nimble thinker, able to investigate issues, quickly and accurately assess options
Strong written and verbal communicator
Adaptability and keenness to learn

- This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street
Salary -

The salary band for this position goes from $93,200 to $103,556 per annum based on a 40 hour working week

.

Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
