Job Description AECOM is seeking a Traffic/ITS/Safety Civil Engineering Intern to be based in Atlanta, GA. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be creative, self-driven, client-focused, and impactful. An ideal candidate will be passionate about improving the safety and efficiency of Georgia roadways for users of all ages and abilities.

This position is expected to begin in May 2025. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Contributing within Traffic Safety, ITS, and Traffic Operations as needed. Developing an awareness of standard practices, techniques, and procedures under supervision. Following specific, detailed instructions and technical approaches for design. Communicating and collaborating with full design team and others. Providing analysis to support development of design ideas and solutions, including assisting in developing traffic engineering screenings and studies. Pulling and analyzing vehicular and vulnerable road user crash data. Supporting and assisting in the development of work products such as specifications, concept designs, sketches, drawings, and illustrative graphics. Researching alternate solutions and design options in support of the project team, e.g. white paper research. Developing an awareness of AECOM's Quality Management System (QMS) procedures. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating. Candidates must have completed two years of study in their program. Preferred Qualifications Currently in pursuit of a Master's or Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering and/or related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Self-starter with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, commitment to quality, and attention to detail. Interest and experience in data analysis and problem-solving. Proficiency in ArcGIS, Synchro and/or other traffic modeling software, MicroStation and/or other CAD software. Professional experience and/or academic coursework relating to transportation infrastructure planning and traffic engineering. Passion for multimodal transportation safety, including active modes and protection of vulnerable users (pedestrians, cyclists, mobility-assisted, etc.). Additional Information Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position. This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Atlanta, GA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Atlanta, GA on a scheduled basis.
