We're looking for a Transmission and Distribution Line Design Engineer to join our Electric Utility Design team at our Overland Park location (in office).
Responsibilities: Develop Transmission and Distribution (T&D) line construction design packages from project start to finishPerform analysis, complete detailed calculations, and develop reports and estimates.Verify and review right-of-way requirements.Develop conceptual/feasibility studies, cost estimates, design drawings, structure elevation drawings and details, site routings, physical designs, clearances, material specifications, bills of materials, bid documents, etc.Use industry-standard design tools including the PLS-CADD software suite (including PLS-POLE) and Osmose O-Calc Pro.Perform QA/QC on other's work as required, reviewing for completeness and accuracy.Manage multiple projects within prescribed time frames.Effectively communicate design requirements and collaborate with other disciplines of the company including structural, civil, survey, etc.Attend client meetings to ensure the design meets their needs and objectives. Requirements: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.PE license in Kansas preferred (or the ability to obtain the license in a timely manner).5-7 years of experience in the electric power industry. Experience with the modeling, analysis, and design of T&D lines and structures – 345kV and below. Skilled in the design of wood, laminated, and steel structures. Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Standards, and other applicable industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, CSA, IEC, ASCE, etc.). Experience with other related software tools such as LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, ETAP, Milsoft WindMil, and SKM Power Tools is preferred. Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks. Excellent presentation, written communication, time management, and organizational skills are required. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.
