Key Responsibilities:
Effectively manages and supports a team/fleet, made up of Fisher DOT and or Non DOT Drivers, and their processes.
Essential Functions:
Daily tasks including supervising employee performance, allocating driver assignments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining all vehicles in top working order to include ensuring each vehicle contains all necessary working safety equipment; Manage databases that detail transport activities and driver performance through GPS, Donlen Fleet Web, Driver Point Telematics, and employee schedules; Make hiring recommendations, properly train staff and stay up-to-date on current transportation laws and fleet regulations; Be highly knowledgeable of codes, laws, regulations, and policies to include DOT, OSHA, and EPA along with basic budgeting, accounting, data entry, and electronic file system knowledge; Manage and maintain the Driver Hours of Service logs, daily pre and post vehicle inspections (DVIR), medical certification exams, driver licensing, and Haz-Mat certification ensuring that all are accurate and up-to-date; Schedule and coordinate the annual CMV inspections at least once during the preceding 12 months and ensure such inspection is on the correct vehicle and the documentation is maintained in the vehicle, ensuring all is accurate and up-to-date; Fully investigate all safety and accident incidents relative to the fleet and subordinate employees and take necessary corrective actions within policy guidelines; Coordinate prompt repairs or deficiencies noted by employees and/or DOT inspectors and generate required responses of repair verifications.
Maintain a current Medical Card and/or CDL license in order to be able to drive any route/run.
Knowledge, Skills, Duties and Abilities: Be highly organized with the ability to think analytically; Able to produce results while managing multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Actively and openly engage subordinate employees, other members of management, and customers through well-developed leadership skills to include building strong working relationships, being well-mannered and approachable; Reduce or eliminate at-fault accidents utilizing all Safety and Risk Services programs and training; • Facilitate and validate registrations, insurances, and inspections of tractors, trucks, and trailers ensuring all are accurate and current; Maintain the highest standards of customer service, including prompt handling of all customer and employee complaints/concerns; Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic warehouse environment; Ability to make sound, common sense business decisions; Ability to communicate effectively with peers, direct reports and corporate management, both verbally and in writing; Ability to hold employees accountable for successful outcomes/results; Ability to ensure effective and efficient use of all available resources in a cost effective manner; • Ability to manage labor hours and payroll costs effectively; Ability to write an effective work schedule that ensures appropriate coverage to achieve results and provide high levels of customer service; Ability to manage time effectively; Interpersonal competencies to include: Integrity and trust, dependability, adaptability, leadership, motivation ability, coaching and mentoring skill, and the ability to create and maintain good working relationships; Familiarity and full user capabilities with Microsoft Office computer products; • Listens attentively and responds in a caring and appropriate manner; Treats all employees with respect and dignity; Shares appropriate information with Distribution Center personnel, establishes guidelines and celebrates success; Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic warehouse environment; Ability to effectively coach and teach associates to reach their full potential; Ability to operate equipment utilized in the movement of inventory in the warehouse; Share information about new laws and/or technological advances; Other duties as assigned CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: High school diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree in transportation and/or logistics management is preferred; • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report must be obtained by applicant and submitted for approval prior to hire date and satisfactory MVR must be maintained; Successfully complete a pre-employment drug test; 2 - 3 years of prior relevant experience with a proven track record in transportation/logistic scheduling and management is required; Acknowledgement of and adherence to all Company policies and procedures as contained within the Fisher Auto Parts Employee and Driver's Handbooks.
