We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsResponds to trauma bays and travel and travels with patient to CT, OR, ICU as needed.Responsible for trauma bay readinessCoordinates and triages incoming trauma patientsReviews/evaluates all activations for triage level appropriatenessEvaluates admission consultationsManages care with primary trauma surgeonResponsible for documentation complianceResponds to in-house trauma patients critical needsFacilitates psychosocial supportMentors trauma nurse respondersAssist in training and in-servicing needsAttends daily multidisciplinary roundsIdentify and report trauma audit filtersParticipate in scholarly activitiesFunctions as clinical liaison for prehospital partnersFacilitates trauma bay time outs and debriefings in collaboration with primary surgeonProactively leads performance improvement activities, interprets data and suggests am implements changes based on performanceTracks trauma quality indicators by patient and prepares case write-ups for presentation at Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) reviews and tracks decision and action items takenParticipates in PIPS process and assists and tracks or performs needed activities through to loop closureParticipates in trauma center survey preparation for State and American College of Surgeons (ACS) and sees activities through to completionParticipates and lectures in trauma-related education such as inservices, TNCC and other department driven coursesParticipates in trauma related researchParticipate in duties assigned by the director of trauma servicesWhat qualifications you will need:Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.BSN PreferredRequired: Licensed in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse or has compact license.Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateRequired – 3- 5 years of critical care trauma or emergency nursing experience.
