**Description** _Summary:_The Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit is a 40-bed mixed unit on the 5thfloor. This unit cares for the medical monitored patients as well as traumaticinjuries transferred from the ICU and Emergency Department. It alsospecializes in post-operative care of patients with acute and chronicgastrointestinal and urologic procedures. The unit is known for being TheCenter of Excellence for the care of bariatric surgery patients. For the40-bed unit, there is usually 3-4 PCTs scheduled each shift for nursingsupport. There is a Mobility Technician from the Physical Therapy Departmentthat is assigned to the Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit to assist patientswith becoming mobilized. The unit also has a certified wound care nurse whomakes rounds on every patient weekly to ensure wound care is covered.A Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patientcare through the process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementationand evaluation. In addition, the Registered Professional Nurse prescribes,delegates, coordinates, supervises and evaluates patient teaching and theactivities of the ancillary nursing personnel while maintaining the standardsof professional nursing. The Registered Nurse is able to provide direct andindirect care to patients._Requirements:_A. EducationSkillsGraduate of a State Board accredited School of Nursing or equivalent.B. ExperienceAt least 1 year of acute hospital experience required.C.
