Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (Traveler) Job Description Overview: We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (Cath Lab Tech) to join our team as a traveler and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions across various healthcare facilities. In this role, you'll work alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and related procedures. This role requires flexibility, technical expertise, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities: Patient Preparation: Gather patient medical histories, answer patient questions, assess vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures. Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and maintain specialized equipment, including x-ray machines, EKG monitors, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and ultrasound devices. Procedure Assistance: Support physicians during procedures by passing instruments, manipulating catheters and guidewires, and operating angiographic equipment. Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs, comfort levels, and cardiac rhythms during procedures, promptly recognizing and addressing cardiac arrhythmias. Patient Care & Emergency Response: Assist during adverse reactions or emergencies, participate in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and CPR, and provide post-procedure care before patient transfer. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records for each procedure, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Skills & Qualifications: Strong technical skills in operating and troubleshooting complex equipment. Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in high-stress situations, using critical thinking to address challenges. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative teamwork and compassionate patient interaction. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and record-keeping. Flexibility to work in different facilities and adapt to various work environments as a traveler. Education & Experience: Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field; certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or similar is preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a cath lab or cardiac care setting. Willingness to travel and adjust to varying shift schedules and facility protocols.
