- Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
- Reviews clinical data on requisition forms and conducts appropriate examinations.
- Obtains additional information about patients' medical histories as necessary.
- Prepares procedure rooms and regularly replenishes stocks such as linen and related supplies.
- Analyzes anatomical structure, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans.
- Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from areas of the body being studied.
- Administers intravenous contrast media, utilizes power injectors, and monitors patient reactions.
- Provides immediate care for any reactions that occur.
- Assists Radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Emphasizes radiation protection principles, including shielding, appropriate equipment settings, and ALARA techniques.
- Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Completes all study indexing, including study begin, end, and completion in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists before performing studies.
- Performs all documentation in the medical record necessary to support clinical and billing functions.
- Demonstrates a consistent commitment to team member standards, such as AIDET, open communication, timely responses, positive attitudes, innovation, and respect for diversity.
- May work in fixed or ambulatory mobile units and be exposed to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and potentially contagious patients.
- Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
