**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour Nights, every 3rd weekend **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year **License:** Required to submit **Certifications:** BLS (ACLS, PALS, TNCC preferred) **Must-Have:** Experience in similar hospital settings; suitable for first-time travelers. **Job Description:** - Emergency Room department with 2 trauma beds and 2 clinic rooms. - No fast track or separate triage area; patients triaged externally. - Nurse to patient ratio generally varies from 1:1 to 1:3, with usually one patient at a time. - Staff consists of 3 licensed professionals: 2 RNs and 1 LPN or another RN. - Common diagnoses include strokes, myocardial infarctions, trauma, motor vehicle collisions; stabilization and transfer of critical patients. - Insulin, pain management drips, and TPA are common drips administered. - A midlevel or PA is always available. - The charge nurse or house supervisor role is combined and may include taking patient assignments. - Support staff includes 2 technicians: one assists in the Emergency Room; the other covers additional duties. - Paramedics cover respiratory needs like vents and BiPAP during off-hours for respiratory therapists. - Mindray monitors are used; the RN is responsible for monitoring and can see all monitors from the central station. - Nearby X-ray and CT services with on-call availability during specified hours. - Lab in-house 24/7; RNs can draw from IV starts if needed. - Schedules managed by the manager, reflecting preferences and block scheduling. - Weekend work required every other or third weekend, as decided per contract. - Holiday scheduling fills in existing gaps. - Floating may be needed to Medical-Surgical and Emergency Room areas; calls for adaptability in patient care. - Scrubs are not provided. Any color scrubs allowed, provided there are no other hospital logos. - Unit-specific orientation includes one full business day for administration, IT, and resources, followed by two 12-hour orientation shifts in the Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical.
