**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Labor and Delivery Nurse **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 1845-0715 **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience **License:** Current, active license as a Registered Nurse **Certifications:** Current BLS and ACLS certifications PALS and NRP (preferred) **Must-Have:** Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program **Job Description:** - Independently assess and evaluate health status of labor and neonate patients using objective and subjective data - Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to establish realistic and measurable goals - Maintain safe and effective care through standard procedures to stabilize patient's condition or prevent complications - Act as a patient advocate throughout the care process - Directly provide patient care and manage responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases - Educate and assist mothers with breastfeeding as needed - Educate mothers about infant care and promote wellness during and after pregnancy - Document events and education in patient medical records using computer systems - Communicate patient conditions verbally and in writing to physicians and nursing supervisors - Support and assist other Family Birthing Center staff in skill maintenance and learning new procedures - Collaborate with nursery nurses in the care of mother/baby couplets - Assist physicians with procedures - Provide assistance to nurse manager as requested - Handle emergencies in other nursing units when possible - Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in the Family Birthing Center unit
