ACTIVE AK License required AT TIME OF SUBMISSION to be considered Flu Vaccination required to be considered X-Ray experience preferred, but not required.  Position Summary   Provides professional nursing care topatients of all ages from infant to elderly including after hoursurgent/emergent clinic.  Performsprofessional nursing duties utilizing the nursing process and initiatingnursing actions, providing comprehensive nursing care to meet the physical,emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of the patient and family.  Demonstrates initiatives and ability to workindependently on a variety of tasks during times when patient load is light. PositionComplexities   Must be able to identify life threateningsituations quickly.  Must be organizedand able to coordinate all aspects of patient care to provide the highestquality of healthcare services and to promote excellent customer service. TheRN makes daily decisions affecting patient access to care and direct deliveryof care.  Communication with the patient,primary health care provider and SEARHC support services are required.  This position is under the direct supervisionof the nurse manager.  Employee isexpected to make decisions using basic nursing knowledge and skill developedfrom educational experiences and training. This person is expected to function independently, be self-starting and showgood judgment in decision and problem solving. Accountabilities ·        Knowledge of nursing care principles, practice andprocedures required to assess and care for patients of all ages andconditions.  In conjunction with theprimary care provider, develops a plan of care from assessment data forindividual patients.  Observes, assesses,recognizes, identifies, and interprets the patient condition.  Document observations, nursing interventions,health teaching, therapeutic measures, and the coordinated activities between nursingand other professional disciplines. Evaluates to what extent nursing interventions have met the health caregoals the patient and revises the plan of care accordingly. ·        Administerstherapeutic measures as ordered by a physician or other qualified health careprovider appropriates within scope of practice and department protocol.  Operates specialized equipment.  Demonstrates correct utilization ofcomputer-based health information system. ·        Performstriage of patients requesting other than routine clinic appointments.  Assesses patient according to establishedprotocol and provides appropriate advice or directs patient to level ofcare.  Recognizes signs and symptomsrequiring intervention and acts appropriately. Maintains a safe and aseptic environment by carrying out sterile andaseptic technique and procedures. Maintains equipment and adequate level of medical and nursingsupplies.  Identifies safety concerns andquickly takes steps to correct the situation. ·        Nursing staff is responsible for the weekend,on-call, and secondary coverage of the moderate complexity lab which includesbut not limited to: phlebotomy, QA/QI of instrumentation, testing of labspecimens, documenting of lab specimens, proficiency testing, and shipping oflab specimens.  Nursing is alsoresponsible for respiratory therapy functions such as:  pulmonary function testing, peak flow test,12 lead EKGs, Nebulizer treatments, and oxygen therapy.  Radiology is another function of the nursingstaff which includes:  registering and editingx-rays in the Nova Rad system, taking of films, editing, transferring, andprinting of x-rays when needed, erasing and cleaning of cassettes, anddocumentation of all radiology studies both electronically and hard copy.  Case management is another function of thenursing staff as occasionally the need to assist the referral care coordinatorand establish care plans with the patients provider.   Position Urgency: Normal Shifts: M-F 8a-5p, Call may be required State License Details: Must Be Currently Active Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 40 Specialty Type: SEARHC does not recognize agency timecards for weekly invoicing. The on-call nurse will have 30 minutes to respond to any page and cannot leave the island.
